1- Interfacial polymerization: IP Technology for production of RO membranes
PC is a process commonly used in making Reverse Osmosis Membranes. Typically, a Polymer cast on a porous support(PS/POLYESTER) cloth is used as a substrate and further coated with Two different Chemicals in succession– firstly with an Polyfunctional Amine Based Aqueous Solution and followed by Acid Chloride in Organic Solvent Solution. Interfacial polymerization takes place between the two immiscible solutions. The fabric is heated to evaporate the solvent. The coated fabric has a dense Thin Film Composite layer on top – which is used as RO membranes in Desalination application.
